App of the Week: Zite

In a way Zite is very similar to Flipboard (a previous App of the Week). You tell Zite what you like and you will get your own customised ‘magazine’ (from internet contend).

There are two key differences to Flipboard: Zite is not a Twitter client: While you can share via Twitter and tell Zite your Twitter account and it will use it to analyse what you are interested in, you cannot read your Twitter stream. The second difference is that Zite allows more customisation. You can like or dislike any article and it supposedly has impact on the future content mix.

One negative point about Zite: sometimes in a customised category I get content which is not in English.

Final thoughts: As both Flipboard and Zite are free, there is no reason not to use both – or at least try both out. Give it a try.

When I wrote this post, I was looking at version 1.1.1 for iPad. It requires iOS 3.2 or later. Available for free in the AppStore.

Tried with iOS 4.3.3 on an iPad.
