App of the Week: The Incident

An incident happened and somehow all kinds of objects keep falling from the sky. You tilt to dodge, tap to jump, and try to climb up the pile of stuff while trying to avoid the things that keep falling on you.

It is a nice game with charming 8-bit graphics but it’s not outstanding. But it has a special trick up its sleeves if you play it on an iPad: You can install ‘The Incident’ on a second iDevice (an iPhone or iPod Touch) and pair it to the iPad via WiFi and then use the second iDevice to control the game. This worked very well and in my opinion it actually improves the gaming experience significantly.

Don’t get me wrong: it’s by all means absolutely not worth getting a second iDevice just to use this feature, but if you have a second iDevice, it’s very neat.

Also: read Eurogamer’s review (written before the second iDevice as controller feature was added in version 1.2).

When I wrote this post, I was looking at version 1.2 for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad. It is a universal app and supports Game Center. Requires iOS 3.0 or later. Available in the AppStore.
